Great Book
My five year old loved this book. We read it every night for a week. She loved the story of how the Bear gradually became a friend. The story inspired her to ask a lot of questions and led to some very insightful discussions. The pictures really added to the story. I highly recommend this book.

Dear Bear

One of our favorites!
I love this book almost as much as my 2 year-old does. It has GREAT illustrations and fun rhymes, making it a pleasure to read. Even after months of reading this book nearly every day, I still like it. Aside from the obvious counting lessons, there are other things to be learned from this book for kids; my son is very interested in what all the animals are eating. It also gently teaches flexibility and kindness. Along with Goodnight Moon, I often give this book as a gift. Give yourself one and get this book!

My Kids Want Me To Read This Again And Again!
A magical tale with children. Animals come alive in this bright and colorful book written in rhyme. Captivating to children, this book is appealing when introducing the concept of numbers and to those who already count. The finale warms the heart of every reader and listener. A sure winner in our family!

Disney's Christmas Storybook
Published in Hardcover by Disney Press (September, 2000)
Authors: Elizabeth Spurr, Sara Baysinger, and Alfred Giuliani
Average review score:

Wonderful
If Disney is your thing this is a wonderful book for you. It takes Disney characters and puts them into their own little Christmas stories. The stories iclude 101 Dalmations, The Little Mermaid, The Aristocats, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Pinocchio, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Oliver and Company, Dumbo, A Bug's Life, Lady and the Tramp, Mickey Mouse, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Tarzan, Robin Hood, and Toy Story.

Each story is enchanting in it's own way, and the illustrations are incredibly beautiful. Bring this book into your home this holiday season. You won't be disappointed.

Terrific holiday complement to standard Disney fare
This storybook is an elegant (complete with silver-edged pages) companion to other Disney stories. We have a 2-1/2 year old daughter who loves reading and is enjoying longer, more envolved stories. This book places her favorite characters in holiday stories that are consistent with what she is familiar with.

For example, the story of Snow White is set with the seven dwarfs during the time she is staying with them. It is easy to simply say that she stayed with them for some time before the Queen and Prince finds her in the forest.

Plenty of stories with all your favorites including Cinderella, Little Mermaid, Hunchback, etc. Each one is 10-20 pages long, so this isn't for kids with short attention spans.

Do Teddy Bears Ski?
Published in Hardcover by Mountain Path Press (23 November, 1998)
Authors: Rick Sanger and Carol Russell
Average review score:

Get the book before you take the lessons!

This book is great! It's a must-have for anyone with small children who are learning to ski, or will soon be taking their first lesson. It's beautifully illustrated with animals. You'll find a tiger tearing it up, a shredding raccoon, mice in the moguls and a powder-hound giraffe.

The copy is short and sweet. It mixes in ski tips for the kids, such as, "Since the sun is so bright, and the snow is so white, egrets wear shades to protect their eye sight." Another page says, "To slow down, just make pizza, it's all you need know. The bigger the slice, the slower you go." The kids don't realize it, but they're learning something while reading it.

There's even something for Mom and Dad. In the back of the book is a list of ski tips on how to keep your kids safe on the slopes, and have fun during their lessons.

I have written about this book in my ski column called My Rockies!

A fun introduction for kids learning to ski
This whimsical book beautifully introduces children (& adults) to the joy of learning to ski (& snowboard). Several different animals review the essentials for a successful day of fun riding on the snow. The words are simple, yet specific; complemented by stunning animal paintings and a cute story. Makes a wonderful gift for any youngster interested in skiing.

Do-It-Yourself Black Bear Baiting & Hunting
Great Book, it really went in depth into the ways to lure bear into bait. I have read his other books on deer hunting and this matches up to the high quality of Dr. Ken. Great book for all skill levels

Excellent book this is a must read for bear hunters
This is a really fine book for information on bear hunting. Not only are there several tips on scent control but there is a wealth of info on the nature of trophy male bears. Dr Nordberg is usually known for his whitetail research. This book shows the hunt from start to finish and portrays how hunting can be a family event. If there is a 2nd edition I WILL buy it.

Delightful story for wintertime
This is the short tale of Sam who his mother has discovered has a cough. Sam's mama patiently negotiates getting Sam to take his bad tasting cough syrup from the too big spoon. Then they snuggle in and wait for the snow to come. This a great story to read to your kids quietly before snuggling into bed on a cold winter night.

Down Home Grizzard: Three Bestselling Works Complete in One Volume: Don't Forget to Call Your Mama, Does a Wild Bear Chip in the Woods?,Southern by the Grace of God?
Published in Hardcover by Galahad Books (September, 1998)
Author: Lewis Grizzard
Average review score:

Great collection
Anyone not familiar with Lewis Grizzard ought to be in for a treat reading these books. I grew up reading Grizzard in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and I remember laughing out loud at the breakfast table so, so many times. Grizzard was a terrifically funny man, southern to the core and wrote basically about what he knew best- life in the south. Grizzard was more than just a funny guy, however, he was a real writer, a true talent. This collection makes me realize how much I miss him. You don't have to be southern to appreciate Grizzard, however, no more than you'd have to be from the Midwest to like Garrison Keillor. This is Grizzard at his best.

Solid Gold Grizzard
Lewis Grizzard is to southern humor what Elvis is to rock n roll, a legend that will live in our hearts forever. "Down Home Grizzard" is an excellent read as well as a beautiful memory to the late king of southern humor. The man is just plain funny.

Dry Days, Wet Nights
Published in School & Library Binding by Concept Books (March, 1994)
Authors: Maribeth Boelts and Kathy Parkinson
Average review score:

great for teaching kids
this book is a great example of a real live experience. alot of kids felt the same as LB, that he/she feels like a baby wearing a diper to bed. so they try and try and try not to wet the bed and after well you get the picture. this book is great for kids that have that problem.

A Healing Salve
What I have to say is complex, yet simple. I was a bedwetter who had tried everything, my parents tried the best they could to help. I wet the bed until I was sixteen years old. I was unable to do sleepovers like other children. At sixteen and deeply emotionally scarred I stopped wetting and was still hurting from the years of embarrasment. At the age of 20 I was volunteering in a library and shelved this book. I read it at that time and I was somehow healed of my wounds. I have searched for it since in every book store and now I have found it, thank God for Amazon.com. I cannot wait for the oppurtunity to share this treasure with my children.

Dynamics of Fluids in Porous Media
You may never need any other text other than this one. This is a comprehensive text covering everything from defining and classifying aquifers to fluid transport, continuity and conservation, boundary-value problems, flow of immiscible fluids and heat and mass transport. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to know the basics and beyond.

The Classic.
The definitive, classic text on the subject

Edward Unready for School (Edward-The-Unready)
Published in Hardcover by Dial Books for Young Readers (October, 1995)
Author: Rosemary Wells
Average review score:

We Love Charles!
My son was a very shy little boy, and how we laughed at the adventures of Charles. Whenever my son was feeling timid I would whisper" You're like a sandwich without the cheese--not to mention the meat and the mustard..........." which is a quote from the father in the story. It always brought a smile. This book has a great lesson for people of ALL ages: acceptance! Shy children are fantastic too!

A book with a unique and very needed message
This book is a perfect example of why Rosemary Wells is my favorite children's author and one of the few brave enough to write with a unique voice. In this tale, Edward tries play school, doesn't fit in at all, doesn't enjoy himself, and is just not ready. His parents and teachers agree he should stop going until he's ready. In almost any other telling of a similar tale, the moral would be that somehow Edward was "brave" and found a way to like school, and kept going. Wells is brave enough to say that some kids really just aren't ready, and that in today's achievement at all costs oriented society, it's okay! Any child would be lucky to have parents like Edward's, who create a home environment that is cozy and loving. Don't get this book if you are a parent that has signed your child up for the top preschool at birth and have your 2 year old's Ivy League education all planned! But if you believe in letting kids be kids, even if they are shy kids, then this is a book for you!
